Life began to unravel for Lisa the day she heard her husband Stuart had terminal cancer. When he died just four months later, it seemed her life had ended too.

For the sake of their daughter, Jenny, she had to continue. But without the loving support of Stuart, Lisa struggled with unexpected decisions and financial difficulties, and once Jenny was tucked in bed for the night, Lisa’s anger and despair became almost unbearable.

Lisa came to Pilgrims Hospice on the advice of her doctor. With the help of our expert grief counselling, she found a safe place to cry and express her heartbreak. Gradually, Lisa explored choices she wasn’t ready to make alone and began to pick up the pieces of her life. Over time,  and with our support on her grief journey, Lisa was able to accept that although her life and Jenny’s would never be the same, she could face each day with renewed hope for their future.

In the past year, Pilgrims Hospice has received increasing referrals for Grief and Bereavement counselling. While our philosophy is to never turn anyone away who can’t afford our services, we can’t do this without you
